2017-18 Admission Application Information for Prospective Parents and Students
Star Academy welcomes all students who reside within or outside the Natomas Unified School District. Applications are taken throughout the academic school year; however, the best time to submit your application is during our Open Enrollment period beginning December 5, 2016 through February 24, 2017.
To find out where your residence lies in regards to NUSD boundaries, please check the school locator which can be found at this link.
If accepted, your child will be part of a program that expects high standards in academics, attendance and behavior. In order to be eligible for admission through the lottery for 2017-2018 school year, an adult must return the entire application packet with all requested documents to the Star Academy office no later than February 24, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. Incomplete applications will not be considered or accepted.
An online application is now available below. We request that you do not fax, scan nor send your application via mail. Please bring all paperwork in person. You may contact our front desk with any questions about the application: (916) 928-5316.
Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten Eligibility
For admission during the 2017-2018 school year, students who will be five years of age on or before September 1, 2017, may register for Transitional Kindergarten or Kindergarten. Children who will turn five years old between September 2 and December 2, 2017, are eligible for Transitional Kindergarten.
Children who will turn five years old between December 3, 2017 and March 1, 2018 are eligible to be placed on a waiting list for Transitional Kindergarten and will not be eligible to attend school until they are 5 years of age, unless space is available in TK. Transitional Kindergarten offers a developmentally appropriate, hands-on approach as part of a two year Kindergarten program. Many of your TK and Kindergarten questions may be answered by visiting the following link:
Note: Applications received during our open enrollment period are NOT based on a first-come, first-served basis. The time and date of your application submission does not impact your status whatsoever. If applications exceed the number of seats available in a particular grade, a public random drawing (lottery) must be held.
Natomas Charter School follows an application process and public random drawing policy set forth by the Natomas Charter School Board of Directors. This policy includes assigning priority to students in the lottery based upon a series of preferences. The list of preferences for the lottery can be found here. Applications are accepted after the lottery, but will be placed on the after-the-lottery wait list.
To learn more about the exciting learning opportunity that awaits your student at Star Academy, we would like to invite you to attend one of our informational presentations. Dates have not yet been finalized. Space is limited at these events: only one family member may attend and children are not allowed. The signup form will posted on the Star Academy home page once dates are decided.
We look forward to receiving your student’s application. Open enrollment runs from December 5th, 2016 through February 24th, 2017. Our lottery will be held on March 21, 2017.
